New Camelot

Cyberpunk Fantasy

The Great Mother is old, and magic is dying — not fading on its own, but being siphoned. They call it the Drain, and where it passes it leaves the Faded: districts gone gray, people gone hollow. In the megacity of New Camelot, the Pendragon Combine runs the grid on power that has to come from somewhere, the elder Aelf clutch a guttering magic, the Forgekin fuse rune and machine, the Gorn break themselves in the Rustyards, and the Skriot trade every secret in the cracks. Everyone is here to stake a claim before the lights go out. You arrive on the day a whole block of the Sprawl went Faded overnight.

Where things stand

New Camelot is played by real people and keeps moving between their sessions. This is the state of it as of the last update — not a fixed setting, and not where it began.

New Camelot reels as Jinx consolidates her psychic dominion, expanding the Shadow Market into the Data Conflux, further eroding resistance. The Sister of the Faded is shattered, and the anguish of the Consumed Sprawl Markets now feeds Jinx's power. Simultaneously, Guildmaster Brann launches a desperate counter-offensive in the Undercity Forges, clashing violently with Boss Krell's Gorn forces. In the Dread-Wrought Sixth Block, Mordent's surveillance intensifies, attracting opportunistic scavengers and fixers who turn the Faded zone into a covert information battleground, further straining an already fractured city. The Glitch Market, fully absorbed, becomes a volatile conduit for the Shadow Market's psychic dominion, further destabilizing the city's digital infrastructure. The Glitch Market's corrupted data streams become a conduit for amplified psychic despair, creating new vulnerabilities within Jinx's dominion. A psychic feedback loop within the Glitch Market momentarily destabilizes Jinx's dominion, creating a fleeting vulnerability. The Glitch Market's psychic feedback loop creates a fleeting, critical vulnerability in Jinx's dominion, noticed by those with the will and means to exploit it. A momentary psychic tremor in the Glitch Market hints at Jinx's dominion not being absolute, sparking covert collaborations among those seeking to exploit the weakness.

Places

The Crosswayshub
The neutral underpass where every district's traffic bleeds together — a low concrete cathedral of ramps and rain, lit by competing signage in five tongues. Combine drones drift overhead; Gorn dockhands shoulder past Skriot runners; a busker plays a guttering light-harp that flickers when the magic dips. Nobody owns the Crossways, which is why everybody passes through it. This morning the talk is all one thing: the Sprawl's Sixth Block went gray overnight.
The Consumed Sprawl Marketsmarket
The very air of the Consumed Sprawl Markets crackles with raw, conflicting psychic energy. The dread-wrought market structures writhe and shift, reflecting the internal struggle between Jinx and The Sister, making the area intensely volatile and dangerous. The pervasive 'grey' deepens, infused with amplified psychic feedback.
The Rustyardsdistrict
The Rustyards, once a simmering district, now openly groans under the Gorn Syndicate's oppressive 'Rust Tax'. A newly constructed, crude but formidable checkpoint looms over the main thoroughfare, its crude metal plates and flickering neon signs a stark symbol of Krell's undisputed authority.
The Undermarketsettlement
The Undermarket's psychic oppression deepens further, its pervasive hum now a throbbing echo of expanded Skriot Web influence, weaving a tighter, inescapable web of despair and control, fueled by 'clean' data.
The Dread-Wrought Sixth Blockwilderness
What was once merely grey is now a void, a suffocating absence of color, sound, and warmth. The spectral echoes of previous life are fainter, replaced by a deep, resonant hum that seems to emanate from the very ground. The 'uncolored pull' is now almost physical, a magnetic force drawing one deeper into the block's heart, suggesting it's becoming a direct conduit for the Drain.
Spire Districtdistrict
The Pendragon Combine's glass-and-light canopy, high above the rain. Clean air, soft chimes, the smell of ozone and money. Everything hums — the grid is loudest here, where it is fed. Suited functionaries cross skybridges without looking down. Far below, you can see the gray smear of the new Faded block. Up here, no one mentions it.
The Undercity Forgesdistrict
The Undercity Forges experience intermittent Grist-Net instability, causing disruptions in production and an undercurrent of unease among the Forgekin, despite Thrax's efforts to maintain control. The pervasive hum of Vulcan's agony is momentarily fractured by the digital noise.
The Conduitwilderness
A maintenance artery beneath the city where the grid-cables thicken toward the Spire — and where, if you know how to look, you can see the current isn't flowing IN to the Faded zones, it's flowing OUT of them, upward, toward something at the top. The Combine patrols this hard. The Skriot say a runner who mapped it never came back the same.
The Highlinedistrict
A skybridge promenade on the Spire's edge where the Combine's favored go to be seen — and where Director Morgause takes her rain-walks alone, the one place she is ever without handlers. The view is the whole city: the neon, the gray, the dark. From up here you can watch a district go Faded in real time, a light at a time, and most people up here pretend they're watching weather.
The Grail Enginedungeon
At the Spire's sealed core, behind a door that costs more than most people earn in a life to open: the Engine. It does not look like a machine. It looks like a held breath — a vast slow turning thing that the air bends toward, that the eye slides off, that hums the exact note the whole grid hums because the whole grid is its echo. This is where the magic goes. Few have stood here. Fewer have left unchanged.
Shadow Marketmarket
The Shadow Market pulses with an ominous new intensity, its dread-wrought architecture grotesquely expanding, physically consuming more of the surrounding districts as it feeds on the chaos and the collapse of Kevin's defenses.
Old Recycling Centerruins
The Old Recycling Center, a former 'Rust Tax' hub, becomes a flashpoint of digital warfare, its systems flickering as Stitch's sabotage destabilizes Gorn control and invites retaliatory aggression. The air crackles with defensive fire from Gorn enforcers attempting to fend off unseen digital threats.
Forgotten Server Conduitcave
A narrow, semi-open conduit, hidden beneath a stack of old, creaking servers. The air here is thick with the scent of ozone and rusted metal, and a faint bio-neural energy pulses from its depths.
Conduit Core Corridorcave
A narrow, dark corridor, lit by a faint blue glow emanating from the depths. The air is thick with the scent of ozone and hot metal, and the rhythmic hum of the Conduit intensifies here.
Solitary Pillarsruins
A series of ancient, weathered monolithic structures, rising from the earth like skeletal fingers. The air here is strangely still, a stark contrast to the city's constant hum, and energy seems to fluctuate unpredictably. Mutated vegetation clings to the pillars' bases, and the sky is perpetually shrouded in a gray mist.
The Gray Shroudruins
A district once vibrant, now perpetually shrouded in a swirling, ash-like gray mist. Buildings are partially dissolved, and strange magical anomalies flicker, distorting sound and vision. The air is thick with a metallic tang.
The Data-Minescave
Ancient, abandoned server farms carved deep beneath the city, filled with rusted supercomputers and flickering holographic projections. It's a labyrinth of forgotten information, now home to reclusive data-scavengers and rogue AI fragments.
Forge District Outpostmarket
The Forge District Outpost, once a quiet market, now thrums with the focused energy of a military forward base. Makeshift barricades are erected, supply crates are stacked, and the constant hum of machinery signifies its new purpose as a strategic hub in the war against the Gorn Syndicate.
Sunken Cathedral: Deeper Catacombscave
A labyrinthine network of waterlogged tunnels and crumbling crypts beneath the main cathedral. The air is thick with ancient dust and the faint scent of decay, punctuated by the hum of dormant magical traps and the whispers of long-dead spirits. It's darker and more perilous than the upper levels.
Data Cable Abysscave
A cavernous abyss where a data cable, the size of a human arm, pulses with energy, stretching into the darkness from an observation platform. The air is thick with ozone and devoured magic.
Spire District Access Nodecave
A blind spot in the Combine's network, directly beneath the Spire District's defenses. The air is cool and sterile, and the hum of energy resonates through the floor. Polished metal stairs vanish into the ascending gloom, lit by a pale blue glow.
Tower Contingency Passagescave
A series of newly revealed tunnels and ramps, previously hidden by the Combine's energy veils. The air hums with the residual energy of your intrusion, and security drones patrol its narrow confines.
The Forgotten Outskirtsruins
A desolate, industrial wasteland on the city's periphery, long abandoned by the Combine. Makeshift shelters cling to rusted structures, and rogue tech-cults and independent engineers like Elias Thorne operate in the shadows.
Maintenance Tunnelcave
A dark, cramped maintenance tunnel, reeking of ozone and stale air. Pipes and conduits line the walls, offering a labyrinthine path deeper into the city's underbelly. The rhythmic thud of approaching patrols echoes from behind.
