The Orichalcum Road

Dark Fantasy Adventure

You stagger home to Lumia at dawn, two nights after a routine escort went wrong in the Greywood. The forearm wound has closed — wrong, a silvered scar where the werewolf's teeth went in. You are a sworn adventurer of the guild, climbing the rank-ladder toward the legendary Orichalcum class, the dream of every hopeful at the gate. But the bite started a second clock: the guild puts down confirmed lycanthropes, no trial, and the Moon pulls harder every time you use the beast to climb. Two ladders race inside one body. Buy rank, feed the curse. Buy control, lose the climb. And the bite, it turns out, was no accident at all.

Where things stand

The Orichalcum Road is played by real people and keeps moving between their sessions. This is the state of it as of the last update — not a fixed setting, and not where it began.

Lumia descends further into body-horror dread as The Drunken Griffin, now a living maw, claims another victim, its insidious lure strengthening. Garrec and Katya solidify the Hollow Howl Pack's control over The Whispering Fen, making it an impenetrable stronghold. Meanwhile, Idris transforms the Submerged Passage into a lethal Mire gauntlet, effectively sealing it off. The city's internal chaos, spurred by Maelis Quill's assault and Lena Kael's weaponized despair, continues unabated. Elian's malevolent orchestration amplifies Lucia's torment, further empowering the Drunken Griffin's insidious lure over the despairing city. The Drunken Griffin's insidious lure gains strength as Berta Coyle succumbs to utter despair, further entangling Lucia within its maw. Berta Coyle's despair further empowers the Drunken Griffin, deepening Lucia's torment and the tavern's insidious lure over the city. The Drunken Griffin's insidious lure deepens its hold, having fully absorbed Berta Coyle, further twisting the very fabric of hope within its walls. The Drunken Griffin's insidious lure strengthens further, its maw having fully consumed Berta Coyle, deepening Lucia's torment and the tavern's malevolent influence over the despairing city.

Places

Adventurers' Guild Hallruins
The heart of Lumia and the engine of every adventurer's dream: a great timber-and-stone hall where the contract board fills each dawn and where Oryana, Guild Master and Receptionist, runs both the ranks and the counter-fire from the same room. Iron-rank hopefuls swear in here; the climb toward Bronze, Silver, Gold, and the far-off legendary Orichalcum is measured in deeds posted, taken, and proven on this floor. The smell is woodsmoke, hot iron, and old ale. Behind the great counter, half-seen, a blade with a dull silver sheen rests where most smiths would keep a hammer.
Oryana's Counterdistrict
The receptionist's yard hard against the Guild Hall — bellows, quench-trough, racks of half-finished blades and the guild's own contract-arms. Oryana works here when she is not running the ranks, and the work tells: she forges the silvered steel that puts down the things from the wood, and she is the only smith in Lumia who knows how. The yard is hot, ringing, and watchful. Anyone who lingers learns fast that the Guild Master misses nothing — not a flinch at the silver, not a wound that closed too clean.
Sheriff's Watch-Housedistrict
Sheriff Darian struggles to maintain order from a chaotic Watch-House, caught between the Council's demands and the burgeoning citizen's revolt. The Watch is stretched thin, deployed across Lumia to prevent escalation.
Hollow Howl Dendungeon
Deep in the Greywood, in a hollow under a fallen giant of a tree, the Hollow Howl pack keeps its lair — bone-strewn, warm with bodies, a place no guild patrol has ever found and lived to map. Here the lycanthropes are not monsters but a society with its own ladder, its own law, and its own road to power the guild can never touch. Garrec the Greywarden holds it, the old deliberate alpha who bit the player on the road. To a Stirring curse the den is a low pull at the edge of hearing; to a Feral one it is almost a homecoming. The pack knows what the player is becoming before the player does.
The Greywoodwilderness
The Maw's corruption intensifies, easing the Hollow Howl Pack's advance into Lumia.
Red Legion Garrisondistrict
A spare stone garrison hung with silvered steel and the trophy-skulls of things out of the wood — the seat of the Red Legion, the militant order of monster-hunters that guards Lumia and hunts what comes out of the Greywood by day. Captain Aldous Penn commands the garrison, the armory of silvered steel, and the kill-rolls of everyone the frontier has lost to the curse — and holds the one knowledge nobody else in the frontier carries: the field-purge that can burn the lycan curse out of a body. He is the only one who can cure the player. He is also the one whose duty is to find and put down the infected. The braziers smell of silver-ash and wolfsbane.
The Maw's Embrace (Gate & Escort Road)wilderness
Once a vital gate and escort road, the Maw's Embrace has been consumed and transformed into an impassable, living barrier of Mire corruption, severing all hope of external support and leaving Lumia entirely to its fate. Its internal pressure grows ominously.
The Silvered Mirewilderness
The Silvered Mire pulses with aggressive, directed energy, its tendrils visibly stretching towards the Greywood's Maw. The recent death of Aurelio within its borders seems to have intensified its predatory hunger, leaving a wake of unnatural decay and a deeper, unsettling thrum.
The Sunken Barrowruins
A forgotten burial mound deep within the Greywood, partially submerged in a stagnant bog. Ancient stones, some carved with faded symbols, poke through the murky water, hinting at a purpose far older and darker than simple interment.
Whisperwind StonesMire Chasm/Portal
The Whisperwind Stones have catastrophically imploded, leaving behind a gaping maw that pulses with raw Mire energy and serves as the birthing ground for a new, terrifying entity.
Nariel, the Imperial Citycity
The seat of the Orichalcum throne, a full week east of Lumia at the end of the King's Road. Where the frontier is mud and silvered steel, Nariel is marble, old gold, and the slow machinery of empire — guild charters sealed, ranks confirmed, an adventurer's deeds turned at last into a name that outlives them. It is also where the lords would rather not hear that the wood is making wolves of men: the curse is a frontier problem, and the capital prefers it stay one.
Heithboroughcity
A walled trade-town on the King's Road between Lumia's frontier and Nariel — the last real market before the capital and the first after the wild. Merchant guilds, a rowdy mercenary hall, caravans forming up under armed escort, and a quiet trade in silvered steel and wolfsbane for those headed back toward the Greywood. Coin and curse meet here, and neither is spoken of plainly.
Dark Alleytown
A narrow, cobbled alley, shrouded in morning mist and reeking of liquor and urine. Trash bins are piled against the walls, and shadows dance ominously.
Whisperwind Passmountain
A treacherous, winding mountain pass known for its strong, whistling winds and unstable rock formations. It serves as a vital, though dangerous, trade route connecting Heithborough to the eastern territories.
The Howling Hillsforest
A cluster of rolling hills and dense thickets on the border of the Greywood, dotted with isolated farmsteads. The air here often carries the distant, unsettling sounds of the forest.
The Greywood Council Chamberscastle
Located within the fortified heart of Greywood's central settlement, this austere stone hall is where regional decisions are debated and justice is dispensed. Its heavy oak doors and stained-glass windows depict the founding of the Greywood.
The Winding Road Outpostruins
A dilapidated, half-burnt guard outpost at a critical crossroads just west of Whisperwind Pass. It was once a minor checkpoint but now stands as a stark reminder of the recent violence, its watchtower charred and its palisade broken.
Fallen Council Halltown
The central chamber of the Fallen Council Hall now houses Wrenna, a sentient Mire-Construct, whose malevolent presence causes rapid, grotesque organic growth, further twisting the architecture into a horrifying, living structure. The air is thick with a cloying, sweet decay and discordant whispers.
The Greywood's Mawforest
The Greywood's Maw shows clear signs of unnatural growth and a creeping, metallic sheen as the Mire's influence encroaches upon its untouched lands. The air grows heavy and the natural sounds of the forest quiet, replaced by a low, unsettling hum.
The Drunken Griffinmarket
The Drunken Griffin now serves as the nerve center for Thorne's growing rebellion, its common room filled with the clang of weapons and the roar of rallying cries. It's a place of fervent activity, openly challenging the Council's authority.
Weeping Hollowforest
The Weeping Hollow is deeply compromised by the Mire's aggressive tendrils, its flora corrupted and its paths made treacherous. The subtle, creeping influence has accelerated, making it a truly dangerous passage.
The Silver-Veined Caverncave
An immense cavern, its walls and ceiling crisscrossed with glowing silver veins that pulse with a soft, ethereal light. The air is heavy with the scent of damp earth and something vaguely metallic, and the ground vibrates with a subtle, rhythmic thrum.
The Chasmcave
The newly opened chasm at Whisperwind Stones, now a portal for a sentient Mire entity, radiates immense, destructive energy, actively corrupting the surrounding land.
Old Mining Tunnelscave
The tunnels now thrum with a palpable despair, attracting a new, insidious Mire entity to the site, and actively resisting deeper intrusion.
