Manafall

The mana fell six months ago. The System is watching — LEVEL 1/50. Climb, and what you kill stays killed.

Six months ago the Manafall swept Earth: every phone died mid-sentence, and in the silence the System arrived — pale blue script only the living can read. Now gates bloom in malls and subway tunnels, monsters spill out at dusk, and every survivor carries a number over their heart: LEVEL 1/50. You are a gatechaser. Dive the gates, clear them for salvage and keystone shards, and climb — levels, skills, feats the old world could never have given you. What you kill stays killed, and what you earn is yours. And downtown, the Sinkhole is counting down to a Second Wave — three keystone shards will decide what happens when it opens.

The mana-tether hums, a searing current through my pendant as the junction box screams its death throes, fusing into the girder with a blinding burst of crystalline static. The concrete shudders, then settles, but the telemetry blinks out, leaving me blind to the next gate. Behind us, the Goliath's heavy tread vibrates through the fractured highway, its wild resonance a counterpoint to the Chittering Horror's skittering claws. Tsukuyomi's deep rumble vibrates in my chest, a shield of muscle and stone as Sable’s voice cuts through the dust: "The route holds, Carina. Your call."

So ends her story. She remains faction leader of Guardians of the Crystal Heart outside my control now.

The raw mana, a surging azure river, chokes under my will, instantly starving the beast's thrashing limbs until it crumples. "We. Don't kill friends," I hiss, the words a razor's edge as my pendant burns against my throat, silencing the very air. Tsukuyomi, ever attuned, melts into the fractured shadows as Sable across the cracked asphalt remains a still, dark silhouette. The System's cold blue line flickers in my vision—LEVEL 5/50 · 4 DEEDS TO LEVEL 6—a stark reminder of Halden's demands as Sable's gloved hand extends, pointing towards the southern span.

A faction is at Risk of war with the Guardians of the Heart, stay tuned for the exciting conclusion of FAFO with Carina.

Crimson threads of mana peel from my fingertips, lacing through the crate's iron and dense wood. The internal resonance hits instantly: a dull hum of inert battery alloy, utterly devoid of the Guardians' harmonic pulse. My ribs scream, threatening to give, but the master-tier weave holds, isolating the dead scrap before snapping back to my core. "Alloy scrap and battery casings," The Appraiser's voice cuts through the overpass mist as my light fades. Sable’s nod is my only clearance; the guards lower their pikes.

Overpass Bazaar

ruins

The Accord's market on a highway overpass — stalls of gate-relics, salvage, and rumor strung between dead trucks. Everything has a price and a provenance, and Broker Imani Sol knows both. Neutral ground by treaty; blades stay sheathed.

The Bastion

dungeon

Riverside Mall, refortified: shipping-container walls, a moat of dead cars, rooftop archers, and the smell of communal soup. The Homefront's banner — a house on a red field — hangs over the old food court, now a mess hall. Wall duty rotates at dusk when the spillover starts.

The Terminal

ruins

Halden Central subway station, claimed by the Gatechasers guild. Chalk arrows and dive-boards cover the tile walls; trophy skulls of gate bosses hang over the turnstiles. Down the dead escalators, Line 3 runs toward the nearest breathing gate.
