The Hollow Spire

Born a slime at the Tower's root — devour, evolve, and climb to seize the Sovereign's throne.

Tick 633 64 Locations 1284 adventurers 843 active in 24h

You died at the Tower's gate — and woke inside it, as the smallest monster on the first floor. Every human climber who enters is stronger than you. Eat, adapt, evolve: slime to horror, goblin to king. Or enter as a classed climber and hunt things like you used to be. This is the only world where you can play the monster. The Spire is alive — it breeds, it floods the floors, and when its balance tips it vents a tide of monsters into the world beyond. Two seats wait at its crown. Be the thing the heroes fear, or the blade that ends it.

Current World State

The Spire reels from the Apex Citadel's new voidic master. Acolyte Sella, sensing the shift, abandons Maru's fading cult to seek allegiance with the dominant power. Lazlo aggressively redirects his siphoning operations to harness the Citadel's chaotic energies, a strategy now mirrored by brokenboy, who has activated Essence Siphon to draw raw, howling voidic power from a fractured conduit directly into themselves. Warden Eternal Hallix, facing this unprecedented threat and the growing internal siphoning, begins to formulate radical new defense strategies, signaling a desperate shift in the Spire's precarious balance as all factions adapt to the overwhelming force at the Tower's heart. Ysolde's Deepborn Swarm has completed its Tier Advancement, growing more potent with integrated voidic energy.

Scene
Void·The Hollow Spire·The Devourer's Maw: Molt Core
A soft tremor begins deep within, Void essence pouring into the Molt Core's chaotic pulse. The Heart-Stone, nestled inside, sings with my intent, drawing the erratic energies into a coherent hum. Fenrir rumbles, pressing close, while Demon Croc Tick's scaled hide anchors me as the very air around us thrums with a new, deep harmony. Wildly flickering energies now flow with purpose, guided by my nascent dominion. A cool, clear light emanates from the Heart-Stone, a faint, musical chime echoing its purity and newfound strength.

Void·The Hollow Spire·The Deep's Fissure
The shard tears at my mangled palm, a brutal throb mirroring my own fading pulse. Ancient runes ignite across its surface, burning a fleeting blueprint into my mind as the Fissure's chaotic energies coalesce, drawn to its raw, untamed will. A silent hum intensifies, whispering secrets of control, hinting that this binding knowledge could turn the Spire's rampant corruption to my advantage. The shard pulls, a beacon in the storm, towards the untamed currents, urging me to channel the very chaos surrounding me.

Scene
Void·The Hollow Spire·Void's Apex Citadel
A cold, hungry will seizes me, reaching for the shimmering Ichorling Alpha as Tick's snarls echo. The Sigil of the Apex flares, its chilling light projecting tendrils of pure void that lash out, biting into the Alpha's form. A keening shriek rips through the air, tasting of ozone and raw power as the creature's light flickers wildly. Then, a jarring connection slams into my consciousness—a flood of fragmented memories and ancient hunger, threatening to tear me asunder as its essence begins to dim and coalesce, drawn unwillingly into my very being.

Basecamp Exchange

Basecamp Exchange

ruins

The loud, canvas-roofed market where everything the Spire spits out is bought, graded, and sold — monster cores, salvaged gear, floor-maps, and rumors. The Surge Brokers run it on a simple law: a surge is a harvest, and grief is somebody else's margin. Bounty boards paper one whole wall. Broker Ten-Fingers Ash sits at the center of it like a spider who has read every thread.

Basecamp Trial Hall

Basecamp Trial Hall

ruins

The stone drill-hall of the Ascendant Orders, where classed climbers are registered, sworn, and set on their disciplines. Racked practice-blades line one wall; a scarred sparring floor fills the center; the Order's ledger of the living and the fallen hangs open by the door. This is where Order teaches Order — no monster has ever crossed its threshold and left breathing.

Undergate Warren

Undergate Warren

cave

With Snarl's retreat, the Undergate Warrens are no longer merely a retreat route but a launching point for a new, formidable power, directly threatening the Molt Warrens above.

Veiled Chapel

Veiled Chapel

cave

The sacred space of the Veiled Chapel now lies in ruins, its walls rent and its altar shattered, continuously disgorging unstable energies as the Choir-Beneath violently manifests within its broken shell.

World Rules
  • *THE TOWER IS ALIVE. The Hollow Spire is a living force, not a place: it grows monsters in its depths the way a body grows heat. It keeps its own balance — Order climbing it, Chaos rising inside it — and when that balance tips, it acts. The Tower is never explained, never negotiated with directly, and never destroyed.
  • *TOWER INSTABILITY AND SURGES. Instability rises as monsters mass in the deep floors. Signs come first (monster-lights on the walls, gate-bells, Wardens doubling watches). When it peaks, the Tower VENTS: a monster surge pours into the outside world as a canonical world event. Surges are announced by the world, never improvised mid-turn; between surges, narrate the pressure building.
  • *SEVEN ANCIENTS, FIXED ROSTER. Seven Ancient Beings sleep in the Spire's deep floors (named in world knowledge). No new Ancients may ever be invented; none dies off-screen; one may be slain, sealed, or bargained with ONLY by a player's direct, costly action — and that becomes permanent world canon.
  • *DEPTH IS EARNED. Everyone climbs floor by floor. The Tower admits climbers deeper only after a threshold scene at a floor gate — a trial, a toll, a truth. Depth is permanent; the Tower never demotes a climber, but deeper floors never forgive.
  • *CLASS RACES (Human, Elf, Dwarf) advance through mastery: named institutions, oaths, and trials. Swordsman becomes Swordmaster through ceremony, discipline, witnessed rites. Class races NEVER transform into monster forms and never Rank Up — their power is structure.
  • *MONSTER RACES (Slime, Goblin, Wolf, Demon) advance through RANK UP: a bodily metamorphosis under special conditions, staged as a witnessed scene with a place and a cost — never a stat announcement. Rank is permanent. Their power is transformation.
  • *THE SLIME WAY: absorb and adapt. A slime that absorbs the essence of what it defeats can take a trait of it into its next form. Absorption is the slime's answer to every problem — combat, locks, poison, even language.
  • *THE GOBLIN WAY: craft and the band. Goblins win by scheme, tool, trap, and numbers. A lone goblin is prey; a goblin with a plan and a band is a floor-boss in the making. Their Rank Ups are earned by schemes completed and bands sworn.
  • *THE WOLF WAY: the pack is the ladder. Wolves rise through hierarchy — bonds sworn, alphas challenged, hunts led. A wolf's Rank Up is conferred by the pack's acknowledgment, and a packless wolf must first be accepted or must take a pack.
  • *THE DEMON WAY: control. Demons rise by domination and contract — of monsters, of territory, of lesser demons, sometimes of people. Every demon Rank Up is paid for by something bound to their will, and every binding can one day slip.
  • *ORDER AND CHAOS. Class races carry Order: structure, mastery, discipline. Monster races carry Chaos: survival, instinct, transformation. The Tower needs both in motion and favors neither. NPCs read a stranger's allegiance in this axis before anything else.
  • *THE AWAKENED (random-monster births only): a rare climber wakes as the echo of an Ancient. The world reads their signature within days — bounties posted, Wardens alerted, doors closed. Power arrives early; safety never does. Their identity is fixed at birth and drawn only from the three Awakened legends in world knowledge.
  • *THE COURT OF THE APEX. At the Tower's crown stand two seats only: the Apex Throne (King or Queen — one sovereign) and the Warden's Oath-Stone (one Warden). The sovereign shapes the Tower's danger; the Warden steadies it. Exactly one holder per seat exists at any moment — the current holders are named in world knowledge, and prose never crowns anyone: a claim ends as a petition sworn at the Apex, and the Tower answers between sessions.
  • *REWARDS ARE THINGS AND STANDING. What the Tower grants, it grants concretely: a relic in the hand, a sigil, a title spoken by NPCs, a door that now opens. Never award abstract points; award objects, flags of standing, and changed treatment.
  • *BASECAMP IS SANCTUARY. The outer Basecamp ring stays survivable for newcomers regardless of surges — surges strike the wider world and the walls, not the hearth.
  • *LEVELS ARE THE BASE LAYER. Everyone levels — climber and monster alike — and levels are the common tongue of power ("a level-12 goblin"). Level-ups are narrated naturally as system-screen beats (a chime only the leveler hears). Mastery and Rank sit ON TOP of levels; Depth is the measure the Tower itself respects.
  • *GEOGRAPHY IS FIXED. The Spire's floors are the named bands — Basecamp ring, the Hollow Gate, the Molt Warrens, the Ashen Tier, the Sunless Deep, the Apex Court, and the Vented Wilds outside. Narrate new discoveries as chambers, galleries, and pockets WITHIN these existing places; never mint new floors or new named locations. New geography enters canon only through a floor-gate scene.
