The Hush
A secret magic society in today's New York — nurse by day, witch by night. Hide your talent, pick your side, don't get caught.
New York, 2026. Eight million people ride the trains, pay the rent, and never look twice — which is the only reason the other city survives. Old families in limestone townhouses, witches on the hospital night shift, mediums who hear the platform dead, a nightclub in Bushwick where nobody has to pretend. For a hundred years an agreement called the Hush kept all of it hidden. Now magic is waking in people with no family name, the Firm cannot clean up fast enough, and someone calling themselves the Leak is wheatpasting the Houses' secrets on Rivington Street one poster at a time. You are not chosen. You are one adult with a job, a landlord, a phone full of people, and a talent the city would very much prefer you kept to yourself. Every spell is a rumor. Who you trust is the only thing that is yours.
Enzo's 'Heat' continues to rise as his romance with Luca deepens his Night Trade integration, drawing Nadia Sarkis's attention and intensifying Tomasz Wrona's suspicions, who now targets the Anonymous Brownstone. Within Grace's Apothecary, Mirko and Vesna uncovered a Firm tracing spell as the source of a disturbing internal breach in their ward network, forcing a re-evaluation of trust and security as they work to identify its origin. The Firm's internal strife persists, with Julian Marchetti and Celeste Ashby leveraging intel against Ruth Kessler, while the Clinic struggles with supply lines and increasing pressure. Meanwhile, Diego Alcantara appraised a steel signet copy, a heavy, scored item, the significance of which remains to be seen. Mirko and Vesna are closing in on potential suspects for the Firm's internal tracing spell within Grace's Apothecary. Vesna and Mirko have identified a short list of internal suspects for the Firm's tracing spell within Grace's Apothecary. Vesna and Mirko have now formally identified a small pool of internal suspects for the Firm's tracing spell within Grace's Apothecary. Vesna has formally presented Mirko with a short list of internal suspects for the Firm's tracing spell within Grace's Apothecary, deepening their internal security crisis. Vesna and Mirko have begun the grim process of strategizing how to address the internal suspects of the Firm's tracing spell within Grace's Apothecary.

Diego Alcantara: Steel signet copy's hidden function revealed
The steel signet ring feels heavier than standard cast iron as you turn it between your callused thumb and forefinger, catching the harsh hum of the fluorescent tube overhead. The surface is scored with microscopic, deliberate file marks around the crest—a false seam masking a hollow collar, the exa

The subtle, magical signature he detected earlier now has a focal point.
Mirko and Vesna Uncover a Ward Breach at Grace's Apothecary
After days of meticulous tracing, Mirko and Vesna pinpoint the source of the deliberate pressure on Grace's Apothecary's ward network: a subtle, sophisticated breach originating from within the building itself, not an external assault. The discovery leaves them deeply unsettled, realizing the threat is far more insidious than they first believed.
Diego Alcantara: Information about Nadia Sarkis and the 1926 charter revealed.
You pull out a low wooden stool and sit, every cracked rib protesting as you lean against the library's wet-bar counter. Your vision tunnels at the edges—you are bleeding beneath your collar, and your body is one stray impact away from collapsing entirely. The bartender does not pour a drink; he mer
Diego Alcantara: A secret about the 1926 charter and a hidden parchment is revealed.
You wipe the warm smear of copper from your lip against your sleeve, but you don't rise to swing again; instead, you pull out a chair at the library’s side cart, sit down, and keep your voice level against the ringing in your ears. "You know what Nadia’s digging for," you say quietly. "Tell me what

Tomasz Wrona's Net Tightens Around the Woken
The recent surge of magical activity, subtly amplified by Enzo Molinaro's public display of power (to Luca), fuels Tomasz Wrona's growing suspicions. Lena Petrova Intercepts Critical Firm Reallocation Data
Leveraging the anonymity of the Quiet Apartment, Lena Petrova successfully decodes a complex Firm internal communication. The message outlines a significant personnel reallocation, revealing a strategic move by Ruth Kessler to centralize control, unknowingly creating a new vulnerability for House Ashby to exploit.
Unidentified Magical Homicide Rocks the Hidden City
Following reports of a mysterious death linked to magic and subsequent attempts to erase all traces, rumors begin to spread through the hidden city. The Firm, already under pressure, struggles to contain the narrative as whispers of an 'uncontrolled Woken' or 'rogue talent' fuel growing unease among the various factions.

Ashby House
settlementA limestone townhouse on East 73rd with a hand-cranked elevator, a parlor mirror that shows the room five seconds ago, and a Sunday table where the family says everything by what it does not say.

Kessler Vane LLP
settlementThe 41st floor of a Midtown tower: sound-eating carpet, frosted conference glass that fogs when someone lies, an archive lit like a chapel, and a fixer asleep in reception with his coat on. The Hush's court.

Marrero's Laundromat
settlementTwenty-four hours, Roosevelt Avenue under the 7 train in Jackson Heights, fluorescent and warm and smelling of detergent and burnt lint. The front room is mundane. The back room, behind a wet-floor sign, is where the Strays teach the newly Woken to keep their hands quiet.

St. Brigid's Night Shift
settlementThe ER and basement chapel of a Catholic hospital in Elmhurst, Queens, between 11 p.m. and 7 a.m.: vending-machine hum, cancelled codes, folding chairs in a circle, a black car that is not an ambulance.

- *THE HIDDEN CITY: New York, 2026, real and present — subways, rent, bodegas, hospitals, law firms, clubs. Magic lives inside ordinary life and has since before the Dutch. Nobody outside the hidden city knows, and the hidden city works hard to keep it that way.
- *MAGIC IS SMALL, COSTLY, AND DENIABLE: glamours, charms, hearing the dead, reading rooms, quieting a talent. It costs headaches, memories, sleep, or years. Nothing throws fire, opens portals, or wins a fight by itself. A spell that would look like a spell on a phone camera is the most dangerous thing a person can do.
- *EVERY SPELL IS A RUMOR: the city notices magic as a story, a photo, a whisper. HEAT is how loudly the city is talking about you — the server alone sets it; prose reflects the band it names and never invents a number. Public magic, fights, scenes, filming and exposure raise Heat; discretion, cover and cleanup lower it. At 100 you are Burned: outed to the ordinary city, irreversibly, and your life changes on the page.
- *THE HUSH: a hundred-year agreement between the Houses, the Night Trade, the Firm and (unofficially) the Clinic to keep magic hidden and settle disputes without the police. It is fraying in public for the first time. An autumn Conclave has been called to renew it.
- *THE FOUR CIRCLES: the Houses (old families with Hush seats — Ashby House, Okonkwo Row), the Night Trade (Velour, the bodega on Nostrand, the Water Tower Market — favors, glamours, sanctuary), the Firm (Kessler Vane LLP — the Hush's lawyers and its fixers, who clean up incidents with memory work), the Clinic (St. Brigid's night shift, the Tuesday Group, and the Strays' back room at Marrero's — where the Woken go first and are not written down). Rivals, lovers, debtors — not armies.
- *THE WOKEN: magic surfacing in adults with no magical ancestry, dozens this year and more every month — loud, untrained, frightened. The Firm has a list. The Clinic has a room. The Houses have opinions.
- *THE LEAK: an anonymous someone has been wheatpasting the Houses' secrets on Rivington Wall for six weeks. Every poster is true. The narrator NEVER states the Leak's identity; NPCs may reveal it only as a confidence earned on the page.
- *NPC LIVES CONTINUE OFF-SCREEN: every core NPC has a job, a family, a rent, a bed, an ex, and a Sunday. They date, quarrel, and change alliances with each other whether or not the player is present. They remember what the player did, tell each other, and treat the player accordingly — the city verifies people.
- *TIES: confidence is earned only in live scenes. No NPC volunteers their deepest secret to a stranger; below Confidant they deflect in character. Attraction is slow-burn and adult: a date, a hand, a kiss only when trust is real; anything further is a closed door — acknowledged, never described.
- *NOBODY IS CHOSEN: the player is one adult among thousands with a day job, a landlord, and a talent. No prophecy, no destiny in the mystical sense, no cosmic stakes — the stakes are a poster with your face on it, a job lost, a person who stops answering texts.
- *THE FIRM'S CLEANUPS: an incident gets a black car, a hedgewitch's kit, and an hour the witness will not remember. Cleanups are rarer than rumor says, more common than they used to be, and always a moral question on the page — never a convenience.
- *THE DEAD: mediums hear them at the far ends of platforms, in ERs, in old rooms. The dead know things and never get to the point. They are not ghosts that fight; they are people who are late.
- *NEUTRAL GROUND: the Water Tower Market and, by habit, the Nightingale Diner. Glamours down, voices down, no business before coffee. The warden decides.
- *NEW YORK NAMES ONLY: every person is a real New Yorker with a real name from the city's actual communities. No invented fantasy names, no titles in names, no epithets. Places are real neighborhoods, invented specifics. Do not invent new Houses or new magical sites; new venues are apartments, bars, offices.
- *OTHER NEW YORKERS: other player talents exist across the city. Their deeds persist and NPCs repeat them as gossip. Nothing done is undone.
